Thirty-year-old Daikichi attends his grandfather's funeral and is shocked to discover that the old man had an illegitimate child with a younger lover. The rest of his family is equally shocked and embarrassed by this development, and shy away from putting the quiet little girl, Rin under their care. In a fit of anger, Daikichi decides to take Rin in himself. As time goes on, Daikichi begins to understand the struggle and joys of parenting.
